Education and Qualifications
In 1961, he won a scholarship from Central Electricity Board (now Tenaga Nasional) while studying in Upper Sixth Science in Victoria Institution Kuala Lumpur.

Ahmad Zaidee graduated in Electrical Engineering from Brighton College of Technology (now University of Brighton) in 1966. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Technological Economies (Management & Industrial Science), University of Stirling (1974) and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia.

Subsequently he attended several international courses. Among them, at the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin, 1977, Electricite de France S.A.,1978, Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) Course on Total Quality Control 1980, INSEAD Course on "Transfer of Technology",1980, and Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe (an IAEA Nuclear Research Centre, now part of Karlruhe Institute of Technology),1983.

Education and Qualifications

Senator Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato ’Seri Dr. Ibrahim Shah received his early education in School National Pulai, Melaka. Then he went on to study for a Diploma in Administration Public (ITM) 1971, B.A. Economics (Ohio) 1974, M.A. Sociology (Ohio) 1975 and Ph.D. Government and Politics (Maryland) in 1997.

His experience and contributions in the field academics and administration are priceless. Started as a Lecturer in Administrative Studies & Law (1975-1981), he was promoted to Senior Lecturer (1981-1991), Principal Lecturer (1991-1993), Adjunct Professor, Ohio University (1995), Faculty Professor Administration & Law (1994-2004) and Professor of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences & Studies Police (2004-2009).

Education and Qualifications

Tan Sri Dato 'Sri Professor Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid bin Abu Bakar completed an Advanced Diploma in the field Civil Engineering at the MARA Institute of Technology (ITM). He then proceeded studies at Colorado State University (CSU), USA under the Lecturer Scheme Junior ITM and obtained a Master of Science Degree at the same time, namely MSc. Civil Engineering and MSc. Economics from CSU. In 1991, he was appointed Visiting Professor at Purdue University, USA. The following year, he obtained a D.Phil in Civil Engineering from University of Sussex, UK. On November 18, 2011, he received an Honorary Degree Doctorate in Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

He became the first Asians and Malaysians to receive the degree and be appointed Professor Civil Engineering (Water Resources Engineering and Management Course) at the university.

Education and Qualifications

Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Hassan Said obtained his

  • Bachelor degree in Mathematics from the University of Manchester, UK in 1979
  • Master of Science from Brunel University, London UK in 1981
  • PhD from Brunel University, London UK in 1984 (area of specialisation is Computer Aided Geometric Design.

He joined Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1984 as a lecturer in Mathematics at the School of Mathematical Sciences, and was later appointed as Dean of the school in 1990. He was then appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the university in 1995, before being seconded to the Ministry of Education in 1998.

Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Hassan has been appointed as a member of Board of Directors of various local public and private universities, and council members of various local and international bodies including the Governing Board Member of the South- East Asia Minister of Education for the Regional Centre of Higher Education (SEAMEO- RIHED) from 1999-2008.

Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Hassan was a Board Member of the Securites Commission Malaysia (SC) (2016 – 2018) and was also in its Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF) Board (2010 – 2018). He was also the first Chairman of the Institute for Capital Market Research, SC.

He is a Fellow of the Malaysian Mathematical Society, Fellow Institute of Mathematical and Its Applications, United Kingdom (FIMA) and Fellow Academy Science of Malaysia (FASc). Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Hassan was responsible in introducing a new class of blending functions, namely Generalised Ball Basis functions (sometimes referred to as Said Basis functions). The basis functions were used for designing curves and surfaces.

PROFESOR EMERITUS DATUK IR. DR. MOHD AZRAAI KASSIM obtained his 

  • PhD Kejuruteraan Alam Sekitar, University of Newcastle (1992)
  • Sarjana Sains Kejuruteraan Kesihatan Awam, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK (1983)
  • Sarjana Muda Sains Kejuruteraan Awam, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK (1981)

He started his career in 1983 as a lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and has held several key positions at the university, including Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) from 2009 to 2012 and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) and Innovation) from 2012 to 2015.


Prior to assuming responsibilities as Vice Chancellor of UiTM, Datuk Azraai was the Managing Director and CEO of UTMSPACE since 2015. Apart from an outstanding career in academia, he is also a member of several professional bodies.


Datuk Azraai is also a Fellow at The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). He has published two books on academic leadership, 155 journals and proceedings related to higher education, 5 international research projects, 21 national research projects and 19 consultancy projects worth RM6.03 million.
