(MOU) BETWEEN UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM) AND INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED ISLAMIC STUDIES MALAYSIA (IAIS) & SYRIA CARE MALAYSIA
Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) recently had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies Malaysia (IAIS) and Syria Care. The event was held asynchronously recorded on 13th November 2020 at Level 7, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellery Building, UiTM Shah Alam.
The MoU signing ceremony was signed by Emeritus Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim (Vice-Chancellor of UiTM), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Hashim Kamali (Founding CEO of International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia) and Puan Siti Sakinah Meor Omar Baki (Chairperson of Syria Care). The signing was witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurhidayah Hashim; Dean Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil; Deputy CEO of International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia and Ustaz Rizal Ali; Vice Chairman of Syria Care. ACIS also invited Associate Prof. Hajah Norshiha Saidin (Head of Community Networking Unit) to witness this signing ceremony at UiTM.
Through this MoU, several initiatives have been planned to strengthen the role of Islam as the platform towards a better understanding and cooperation between ethnics and social groups in the country. This MoU sees that these three institutions are very committed to engage in research collaborations that could formulate practical recommendations and rectify misrepresentations of Islam through colloquia, publications and other media. Simultaneously, this MoU also aims to instill a spirit of volunteerism and helping people. With the establishment of this MoU between UiTM, IAIS and Syria Care Malaysia, may all new partners would seize the opportunity to gain experience and expand their research insights internationally and bring UiTM to the international arena in general and Islam in particular.
