To date, the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology, or FPA, has produced over 15,000 graduates. FPA, which is located on the Jasin campus, offers 17 academic programmes ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate studies. Interestingly, FPA has collaborated with top agro-tech companies to provide a BTech degree (2U1.5i)- Bachelor of Smart Crop Production Technology.
Equipped with modern facilities and cutting-edge technology for teaching and learning as well as research, FPA is utilising IoT for modern farming, including autonomous tractors for precision farming. Its digital plantation that is linked with the SDGs have made the faculty as a centre of reference in the field of plantation management and agrotechnology.
The faculty has 3,749 in enrolment and its primary areas of specialisation include plantation management, crop protection, agricultural business, agricultural biotechnology, soil science, agricultural & biological engineering technology and more. Among the initiatives that have contributed to the university's income generation are Pineapple MD2, Chilis Fertigation, Kelulut Honey, and others. The faculty also worked with overseas partners such as the University of Arkansas in the United States, Nagoya University in Japan, Procter & Gamble (P&G), The University of Queensland in Australia, and Bayers Co.
FPA now has more than RM3.4 million in research funds, and its academicians have been selected as ministerial policy advisors and visiting scientists at abroad. Listening to their presentation during my walkabout tour of this faculty was inspiring, and I commend their unwavering dedication in attending this event.
The faculty must prepare for the future, particularly in terms of food security, by strengthening its research and innovation capabilities. At the same time, remain up to date on your field of expertise and practise good time management, since this indicates your degree of discipline.
Thank you for sharing your concerns during the Q&A, Mr Mohd Khusyairi, Ms Azma, Ms Zaiton, and Ms Samiha. Despite the imbalance plantation personnel, you have handled it successfully; nonetheless, please proceed with your applications and get ratio standards from peer industries, particularly government organisations involved in the agro business.
Following the presentation session, I had the opportunity to see the agrotech plantation, which spans 100 acres. To everyone in Keluarga UiTM at FPA, thank you for your kindness and enthusiasm.
Sehingga kini, Fakulti Perladangan dan Agroteknologi, atau FPA, telah melahirkan lebih 15,000 graduan. FPA, yang terletak di kampus Jasin, menawarkan 17 program akademik yang terdiri daripada pengajian sarjana muda hingga pasca siswazah. Menariknya, FPA telah bekerjasama dengan syarikat teknologi pertanian terkemuka untuk menawarkan Ijazah BTech (2U1.5i)- Sarjana Muda Teknologi Pengeluaran Tanaman Pintar.
Dilengkapi dengan kemudahan moden dan teknologi canggih untuk pengajaran dan pembelajaran serta penyelidikan, FPA menggunakan IoT untuk pertanian moden, termasuk traktor autonomi untuk ‘precision farming’. Perladangan digitalnya yang digandingkan dengan SDG telah menjadikan fakulti ini sebagai pusat rujukan dalam bidang pengurusan perladangan dan agroteknologi.
Fakulti ini mempunyai 3,749 enrolmen dan bidang pengkhususan utamanya termasuk pengurusan perladangan, perlindungan tanaman, perniagaan pertanian, bioteknologi pertanian, sains tanah, teknologi kejuruteraan pertanian & biologi dan banyak lagi. Antara inisiatif yang telah menyumbang kepada penjanaan pendapatan universiti ialah Nanas MD2, Cili Fertigasi, Madu Kelulut, dan lain-lain. Fakulti itu juga bekerjasama dengan rakan kongsi luar negara seperti Universiti Arkansas di Amerika Syarikat, Universiti Nagoya di Jepun, Procter & Gamble (P&G), The University of Queensland di Australia dan Bayers Co.
FPA memperolehi lebih RM3.4 juta dana penyelidikan, dan ahli akademiknya telah dipilih sebagai penasihat dasar kementerian dan saintis pelawat di luar negara. Mendengar pembentangan mereka semasa lawatan walkabout saya di fakulti ini cukup memberangsangkan, dan saya memuji dedikasi mereka yang tidak berbelah bahagi untuk menghadiri acara ini.
Fakulti mesti bersedia untuk masa depan, terutamanya dari segi keselamatan makanan, dengan mengukuhkan keupayaan penyelidikan dan inovasinya. Pada masa yang sama, siapkan diri dengan perkembangan terkini tentang bidang kepakaran anda dan amalkan pengurusan masa yang baik, kerana ia adalah refleksi terhadap tahap disiplin anda.
Kepada En Mohd Khusyairi, Pn Azma, Pn Zaiton, dan Pn Samiha, terima kasih kerana berkongsi pandangan dan soalan anda. Walaupun terdapat ketidakseimbangan kakitangan ladang, anda telah mengendalikannya dengan jayanya; namun begitu, sila teruskan permohonan anda dan dapatkan nisbah piawaian daripada rakan industri terutamanya organisasi kerajaan yang terlibat dalam industri tani.
Selepas sesi pembentangan, saya berpeluang melihat ladang agrotech yang berkeluasan 100 ekar. Kepada semua #keluarga UiTM di FPA (Fakulti Perladangan dan Agroteknologi Universiti Teknologi MARA), terima kasih di atas layanan mesra dan semangat yang pastinya memberi inspirasi kepada saya.
