On 18 November 2021, Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah attended a Royal Conference and signing of MoU between the Pahang Museum and nine institutions. The hybrid event aimed to introduce the Al-Sultan Abdullah History and Civilization Research Centre, or AL-ASAR, whose name was inspired by Surah Al-Asr in the Quran. The surah highlights the importance of time, faith, and virtuous deeds besides advising each other with truth and patience.
Tunku Azizah hoped that the establishment of AL-ASAR could help complement the work of collecting historical and cultural artefacts of Malaysia, particularly Pahang, to be studied, explored, and understood. Her Majesty also said that everyone, including parents, plays a role in nurturing young people's interest in history to be learned and emulated to shape a better future.
The conference involved the presentation of papers from six researchers from UiTM, UTM, UM, and Akademi Jawi Malaysia. Additionally, the signing of the MoU between the Pahang Museum and the nine institutions also involved Universiti Teknologi MARA.
