MORE THAN JUST A CAMPUS : UiTM PERLIS PROMOTES EDUCATIONAL AGROTOURISM ON CAMPUS

LEBIH DARI SEKADAR KAMPUS : UiTM PERLIS TURUT MEMPROMOSI PELANCONGAN AGRO BERASASKAN PENDIDIKAN DI KAMPUS.

With 460 acres of campus land area and 200 acres of farmland, I was fascinated by the variety of farm types that support the academic programmes, research and innovation, and educational agrotourism on campus available at the UiTM Perlis branch.
In addition to that, the campus also has a Marine Research Station (MARES) in Tanjung Pandan, Pulau Tuba, Langkawi, Kedah covering 11 acres including the coastal area.
With 700 staff, 7 faculties and 8,735 students, UiTM Perlis branch has attracted international partners namely Cangzhou Normal University China, National Central University Taiwan, French Lebanese University Lebanon, Xinyang Normal University China and University of Finance and Economics, Mongolia. This year, the campus secured a total of RM2,346,738 research grants (national, industry and international) highlighting its improved performance as compared to previous years.
My ultimate goal for this walkabout tour programme is to engage and understand the current situation of UiTM Perlis branch. For this, I thank the staff and students’ representative council for attending the hybrid session.
During the Q&A, I reminded the participants to use knowledge whenever making decisions. Write with knowledge as writing reflects our thinking. To Alia, the Honorary Treasurer of Students’ Representative Council, thank you for representing all students by raising your concern on the WiFi coverage issues. For that, students are permitted to be at the academic spaces for better WiFi coverage, but please respect the SOP as well as the university’s laws and regulations.
At the same time, I was equally concerned with an issue raised by Umar Aiman Zamri, the President of UiTM Perlis Students’ Representative Council. I saw the Residential College and repair works needed, as such I have requested for immediate action to be taken by the Rector.
The Visit to Perlis would not be complete without trying the singature dish of Perlis - a Laksa mixed with Pulut Udang. But before that, I took the chance to wefie with Aiman and his friends as well as a group of staff who attended the session F2F. Then I completed by second tree planting - Mangifera Indica (Harumanis).
I ended my visit to UiTM Perlis branch with an event at UniMAP officiated by the Higher Education Minister, held on Saturday October 16 2021.

Dengan keluasan kampus seluas 460 ekar dan tanah ladang seluas 200 ekar, saya terpesona dengan pelbagai jenis ladang yang menyokong program akademik, penyelidikan dan inovasi, dan pelancongan agro berasaskan pendidikan yang terdapat di kampus cawangan UiTM Perlis.( Uitm Cawangan Perlis )
Selain itu, kampus ini juga mempunyai Stesen Penyelidikan Laut (MARES) di Tanjung Pandan, Pulau Tuba, Langkawi, Kedah seluas 11 ekar termasuk kawasan pesisir.
Dengan 700 kakitangan, 7 fakulti dan 8,735 pelajar, UiTM cawangan Perlis menjadi tarikan rakan kolaborasi antarabangsa seperti Cangzhou Normal University China, National Central University Taiwan, French Lebanon Lebanon University, Xinyang Normal University China dan University of Finance and Economics, Mongolia. Tahun ini, kampus ini telah memperoleh sejumlah RM2,346,738 geran penyelidikan (nasional, industri dan antarabangsa) sekaligus menunjukkan prestasi positif yang lebih baik berbanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya.
Matlamat utama saya dalam program lawatan ke kampus adalah untuk mendekati dan memahami keadaan semasa cawangan UiTM Perlis. Oleh itu, saya mengucapkan terima kasih kepada kakitangan dan majlis perwakilan pelajar kerana menghadiri sesi hibrid tersebut.
Semasa Soal Jawab, saya mengingatkan para peserta untuk menggunakan ilmu setiap kali membuat keputusan. Menulislah dengan ilmu kerana penulisan mencerminkan pemikiran kita. Kepada Alia, Bendahari Kehormat Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar, terima kasih kerana mewakili semua pelajar menyuarakan keprihatinan anda terhadap isu liputan wifi. Untuk itu, pelajar dibenarkan berada di ruang akademik untuk liputan wifi yang lebih baik, tetapi sila hormati SOP serta undang-undang dan peraturan universiti.
Pada masa yang sama, saya turut prihatin dengan isu yang dibangkitkan oleh Umar Aiman Zamri, Presiden Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UiTM Perlis. Saya telah melihat Kolej Kediaman tersebut serta kerja-kerja pembaikan perlu dilakukan, oleh itu saya meminta Rektor mengambil tindakan segera ke atasnya.
Kunjungan ke Perlis tidak akan lengkap tanpa mencuba hidangan istimewa Perlis - Laksa yang dinikmati bersama Pulut Udang. Tetapi sebelum itu, saya mengambil kesempatan untuk bergambar santai dengan Aiman dan rakan-rakannya serta sekumpulan kakitangan yang menghadiri sesi tersebut secara F2F. Kemudian saya sudahi dengan penanaman pokok kedua - Mangifera Indica (Harumanis).
Saya mengakhiri lawatan saya ke UiTM cawangan Perlis dengan acara di UniMAP yang dirasmikan oleh Menteri Pengajian Tinggi, yang diadakan pada hari Sabtu 16 Oktober 2021.
