Description
I attended the launching of 2021-2025 Graduate Employability (GE) Strategic Plan at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). The event was officiated by the Higher Education Minister, YB Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.
The plan is a continuation of the National GE Blueprint 2021-2017, which was designed to give an immediate solution and guidance to all public and private institutions in producing quality graduates for the job market, which in turn contributes to the country's economy. There are four key strategies outlined in this which include:-
(i) Strengthening Talent Excellence.
(ii) Student Career Expansion.
(iii) Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (PdP); and
(iv) Strengthening Industrial Relations.
Meanwhile, according to the UiTM 20-year Impact Study, graduate employability at UiTM is currently at 83 percent on average. ( * 2016-2020 data)
At the event I had the opportunity to visit a mini showcase organised by UniMAP which included Research & Innovation products by UniMAP fraternity, the Talent Corp Malaysia and SOCSO/PERKESO (The Social Security Organisation. At the SOCSO booth, I met Mr Muhamad Hanif Zakaria, a Manager for Return-to-Work Programme. Hanif is a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) graduate from the Faculty of Health Sciences, UiTM who has been with SOCSO for three years.
Congratulations MoHE, UniMAP for successfully organising the event.
