YOUR WEAKNESSES ARE NOT YOUR DOWNFALL; THERE ARE STRENGTHS WITHIN YOU THAT YOU SHOULD SEEK AND BELIEVE IN.

Description

On 12 February, my walkabout tour continued again. I was at UiTM Kelantan Branch this time, visiting Pulau Suri located in Tumpat. Here, the economic development programme of the local community can be seen with activities such as the floating market. I had the opportunity to meet Mr Wan Faiz Wan Mamat and Mr Ghani Dolah, a.k.a Pak Ngah. Mr Wan Faiz Wan Mamat is from the Land and District Office (PTJT) Tumpat, and Pak Ngah, is the Manager of Pulau Suri. I was told that UiTM is working with PTJT and the local community to realise the SDG-based programme here. Led by Dr Syerina Azlin Md Nasir, Deputy Rector of PJI & A, the team highlighted traditional food, the beauty of nature, and the local community's culture.
My second-day walkabout tour continued with the MoU ceremony for the Dual Degree Academic Programme between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). This Dual Degree Academic Programme is the first Dual Degree programme in Malaysia that combines two Bachelor's programmes from two Public Universities (UA). This Dual Degree programme combines the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Statistics, Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics, UiTM, and the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Logistics and Distributive Trade) with Honours, Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business, UMK. These two programmes have obtained full accreditation status from the Qualifications Agency Malaysia (MQA) and received approval from the Department of Higher Education (JPT) on 15 March 2019. I'd like to thank Professor Dr Nik Maheran Binti Nik Muhammad, who performs the function of Vice-Chancellor of UMK and Associate Professor Dr Zulkifli Mohamed, the Rector of UiTM Kelantan Branch. The success of this initiative was made possible by these two outstanding, hardworking individuals.
While waiting for my session with the management, staff, and students, I recalled the history of Princess Saadong, which was on display in the waiting room. Puteri Saadong elevates the history of Kelantan and Pattani and even entrusts the great contribution of women who inherited an extraordinary spirit to the new generation today. I advised that everyone should find strengths and weaknesses and believe everyone is exceptional.
I applaud UiTM Kelantan Branch for achieving the KPI targets set and getting positive feedback among students in handling ODL. Also, congratulations to the researchers and grant recipients, not forgetting to the YDP of UiTM Cawangan Kelantan, Saudara Ahmad Muizuddin, who voiced his views and ideas representing all students during the Q&A session. After the event, I went to the 4 -acre Pineapple and Ginger Farm in Bukit Ilmu. Under the leadership of Puan Hadhifah Fadhlina Ismail and Puan Zaila Idris, the farm is run by staff and students from various faculties. I would like to thank the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board for donating 17,000 MD2 pineapple seeds and Encik Mohd Zamani Ab Ghani for his consultation services on this project.
My visit ended with a tour around the Kota Bharu 3D Art and Heritage Centre, a collaboration project between the Kota Bharu Islamic City Municipal Council (MPKB-BRI) and UiTM Kelantan Branch. Mr Sarman and his team conducted a tour guide, explaining the three-dimensional works that became an attraction among tourists.
