UiTM MISSION TO LONDON TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION AND BILATERAL RELATIONS WITH VARIOUS INFLUENTIAL PARTIES

Description

Delegates from UiTM were recently on an academic trip to the United Kingdom to exchange ideas with Oxentia, Oxford's Global Innovation Consultancy, and the University of Glasgow, led by Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation, Professor Dr Shahriman Zainal Abidin.
The collaboration with the University of Glasgow (UofG) will enable qualified UiTM students to continue their studies at UofG's postgraduate programmes. The two parties will also collaborate on postgraduate student supervision and initiatives to appoint visiting professors, external examiners, and guest speakers. At the MoU signing ceremony, UofG was represented by Professor William Cushley, Assistant Vice Principal of Internationalization, and witnessed by Professor Jason Gill.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with Oxentia, Oxford's Global Innovation Consultancy, both parties agreed to collaborate in the area of social entrepreneurship to improve the sustainability of Malaysian sports associations and clubs and make them less dependent on government funding. To begin, the Sport Social Enterprise certification programme will be launched immediately. Oxentia was represented by its CEO, Dr Steve Cleverly, and its Director, Dr Tim Hart.
Professor Dr Shahriman and the UiTM delegation also discussed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding with Liverpool John Mores University (LJMU). In addition, a courtesy call was made to HE Zakri Jaafar, Malaysian High Commissioner to the UK, followed by a visit to Education Malaysia London, MARA London Office, and a meeting with UiTM lecturers and students at Education Malaysia London.
I have noted the issues raised by UiTM London staff, such as the review of allowances, the impact of Covid-19 disrupting laboratory work, suggestions for improving hybrid programmes and publication incentives. Insya-Allah, I will discuss the issue at the next meeting of MEU (University Executive Council).
Congratulations to the UiTM delegation for carrying out the mission of empowering the Bumiputeras, especially in promoting the potential of the sports industry through education, research and innovation. Professor Dr Mohad Anizu Mohd. Nor, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation, Mr Rahmat Adnan, Coordinator of the Sports Business Unit, Mr Mohd Sadek Mustaffa, Senior Lecturer, and Mr Mohammad Syazwan Mohd, Special Officer (Special Tasks) to the Vice-Chancellor, were also part of the UiTM delegation in London.

Insya-Allah saya akan bincangkan isu ini di peringkat MEU dalam mesyuarat akan datang.
