UiTM DEPLOYS ITS ASSETS AND PROVIDES FREE HEALTH SCREENING TO THE COMMUNITY OF BENUT, PONTIAN

Today, the UiTM Teaching Hospital (HUiTM) team visited the community in Benut, Pontian, Johor to conduct free health and dental check-ups with a mobile clinic. This initiative is conducted under the KPT Prihatin Keluarga Malaysia @ Johor - Zone 4 programme.

This tour was held at Dewan Muafakat, Sungai Pinggan, Benut and is in conjunction with the opening of the Satellite Community College @ Pontian by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato 'Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakub. This Satellite Community College aims to add value by offering various TVET-based courses for the B40 group, disabled, senior citizens, indigenous people, youths, and single mothers through a lifelong learning approach to produce highly skilled entrepreneurs from the community.

UiTM is very proud to be able to help the local community in Benut, Pontian, by mobilising 29 volunteers in the fields of health, medicine, dentistry, and safety. They are four lecturers who are also cardiologists, emergency specialists, physicians, and paediatricians. The others are a doctor, two dentists, five paramedics, twelve nurses and a pharmacist, and four auxiliary police officers.

The community is always close to our hearts at UiTM. With a programme like this, it can help the community by using the resources, assets, and social service experts available at the university. The assets provided by the government are not only limited to teaching and learning at UiTM but can also be targeted and effectively extended to the community.

We thank Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, YB Minister of Higher Education, YAB Dato Haji Hasni Mohammad, Menteri Besar of Johor, and the entire Benut community for their participation in this programme.

My thanks to all the volunteers, especially those from UiTM Teaching Hospital (HuiTM), Faculty of Dentistry, UiTM Health Centre, and UiTM Auxiliary Police. They were led by the Director of HUiTM, Prof. Dr. Sazzli Shahlan Kasim, and his two deputies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Izuanuddin Ismail (Deputy Director of Clinical) and Dr. Izzat Ismail (Deputy Director of Clinical Support).

Hari ini, pasukan dari Hospital Pengajar UiTM (HUiTM) menyantuni penduduk di Benut, Pontian, Johor dengan memberi perkhidmatan percuma melalui pemeriksaan kesihatan dan pergigian menggunakan sebuah bas klinik bergerak. Inisiatif ini dilaksanakan menerusi program KPT Prihatin Keluarga Malaysia @ Johor – Zon 4.

Diadakan di lokasi Dewan Muafakat, Sungai Pinggan, Benut, jelajah kali ini adalah juga bersempena dengan pelancaran Kolej Komuniti Satelit @ Pontian oleh YAB Perdana Menteri Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakub. Disasarkan Kolej Komuniti ini akan memberi nilai tambah dengan penawaran pelbagai kursus berasaskan TVET kepada kumpulan B40, OKU, warga emas, orang asli, belia serta ibu tunggal disekitar dengan pendekatan pembelajaran sepanjang hayat, untuk melahirkan usahawan komuniti yang berkemahiran tinggi.

UiTM amat berbesar hati kerana berpeluang menyantuni masyarakat setempat di Benut, Pontian dengan melibatkan 29 sukarelawan kesihatan, perubatan, pergigian dan keselamatan. Mereka terdiri daripada empat orang pensyarah yang juga pakar jantung, pakar kecemasan, pakar perubatan dan pakar kanak-kanak, selain seorang doktor, dua orang doktor pergigian, lima paramedik, dua belas jururawat dan seorang pegawai farmasi serta empat pegawai polis bantuan.

Semestinya UiTM sentiasa dekat dengan komuniti. Dengan adanya program seperti ini, ia dapat membantu masyarakat dengan menggerakkan aset dan pakar yang ada di universiti dalam aspek khidmat sosial. Aset yang diberikan oleh kerajaan bukan sahaja dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pengajaran dan pembelajaran di UiTM, malah ia dapat diperluaskan kepada masyarakat secara bersasar dan berimpak.

Terima kasih kepada YB Menteri Pengajian Tinggi, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, YAB Dato Haji Hasni Mohammad, Menteri Besar Johor, serta seluruh masyarakat di Benut yang hadir ke program ini.

Sekalung penghargaan juga buat semua sukarelawan yang terlibat iaitu Hospital Pengajar UiTM, Fakulti Pergigian, Pusat Kesihatan dan Pejabat Polis Bantuan. Mereka diketuai oleh Pengarah HUiTM, Prof. Dr. Sazzli Shahlan Kasim bersama dua orang timbalannya iaitu Prof. Madya Dr. Ahmad Izuanuddin Ismail (Timbalan Pengarah Klinikal), dan Dr Izzat Ismail (Timbalan Pengarah Sokongan Klinikal).
