Title

THE UNIQUENESS OF PLUS TAHFIZ BECOMES AN ADDED VALUE TO UiTM FOUNDATION PROGRAMME

Description

I paid a visit to the Foundation Centre, UiTM Selangor Branch, Dengkil Campus, on March 29, 2022. The Director gave the presentation in a hybrid format that included the management team from the Foundation Centre.
The campus was founded in 2005 and presently offers undergraduate degrees in science, engineering, law, and TESL. It has 198 academic staff and 93 administrative employees and is developing a few foundation programmes in social and humanities.
The UiTM Foundation Center is the only foundation centre to have the Plus Tahfiz programme, which is an additional programme with 224 selected tahfiz students continuing their studies.
The latest enrollment of Foundation Centre is 3,670 students for the 2021/2022 session. Students who complete the foundation programme are offered to First Degree programmes such as the College of Engineering Studies, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Accounting, Faculty of Architecture Planning & Surveying, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences, Academy of Language Studies, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Applied Sciences and others.
I encourage the Foundation Centre to continue with the Guest Professor initiative to attract students to enrol in the UiTM Foundation programme. I thanked the academic team for their endeavour to publish 96 Scopus articles in 2021. Furthermore, I urge the Foundation Centre to collaborate with School Counsellors to deliver information on Foundation programmes comprehensively and effectively.
Meanwhile, I welcomed feedback from students and staff, including Farah Aulia, Irfan Danial, Nur Amirah Nadirah, and Puan Norlida Che Rose, before concluding my walkabout tour with a visit to the library and an activity of planting Ixora trees.
