Description

“May I introduce our 6th panellist, the first woman Vice-Chancellor of the largest University in Malaysia”, - Ms. Ong Bee Leng, CEO of Penang Women's Development Corporation and Moderator, delivered a fast introduction and a bold headline as we began session two.
The Future Forward Summit 2021 was inaugurated by T.Y.T Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Haji Abdul Razak in Penang. The event aimed to gather, share and exchange ideas, insights, and connections in order to develop effective strategies, capitalise on technological transformation, and design a more agile, sustainable, and competitive future for the state of Penang.
As an invited panellist for Session 2, I joined the conversation with Prof. Dr Lily Chan, CEO and VC of the Wawasan Open University (WoU), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan, VC of the USM, Dato’ Boonler Somchit, Vice Chairman of the PSDC Management Council, Dato’ Ong Eng Bin, CEO OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, and Prof. Datuk Seri Dr. Md. Zabid Hajid Abdul Rashid, Executive Director, Think Data Sdn. Bhd.
We deliberated on ideas and views on the Future of Work and Education in the New Normal – The Shape of Education and Employment of the Future. During the session, I stated that UiTM reviews its curriculum every 3 to 5 years. The governance on curriculum review in UiTM is very clear as the Senate mandates the exercise to be placed under the purview of University Curriculum Review Committee.
We gathered relevant data, and then we make decisions based on them. As we have seen, the government has presented blueprints in many areas, including education; therefore, we must study, comprehend, and implement the vision.
Preparing the Future Entrepreneurial Workforce to Drive Malaysia Beyond 2030 necessitates a shift of the eco-system, mindset, and skillset. This transformation is not just about what we obtain; more importantly, it is also about who we become.
“The pandemic had led to several discoveries in the development of a new work culture that would have a mixed impact on economics sectors”- said TYT Tun Governor during his opening speech. Penang Future Forward Summit was jointly organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, Wawasan Open University and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Themed “Achieving a Resilient and Sustainable Economy” the event was attended by delegates from industries and universities in a hybrid mode.
It was an honour to be a part of the Future Forward Summit 2021, and I am extremely indebted to T.Y.T Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Haji Abdul Razak for the wonderful opportunity to represent UiTM at this Summit. In addition I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the event's organiser for inviting me to participate as a guest panellist.
In the afternoon I paid a courtesy visit to the T.Y.T Governor of Penang, after having met with the Ambassador of Belgium, H.E Mr. Pascal Grégoire, and Mr. Raschada Jiwalai, Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate-General.
Zabid Hajid Abdul Rashid, Pengarah Eksekutif, Think Data Sdn. Bhd.
Kami membincangkan idea dan pandangan tentang “Future of Work and Education in the New Normal – The Shape of Education and Employment of the Future”.
Kita mempraktikan proses membuat keputusan berdasarkan data.
